Myofascial release in Bristol for back, neck, hip and long term pain

Myofascial release is a hands on treatment for the Fascia, the connective tissue that surrounds every muscle, bone and organ. Sessions in Bristol take place at Cavendish House on Whiteladies Road in Clifton and last two hours, so the whole body can be assessed and treated in one visit.

The treatment uses slow, sustained pressure held for one to five minutes at a time. That pace gives the Fascia time to soften and lengthen, which a quick massage stroke does not. People book for back and neck pain, tight hips and shoulders, headaches, fibromyalgia and pain that has lasted for months or years.

Fascia

What is Fascia, and why does it matter for pain?

Fascia is a continuous web of collagen and fluid that runs from head to toe without a break. It wraps each muscle fibre, each muscle and each group of muscles, and joins them into long lines of tension. When part of the web tightens, the pull travels along it, which is why pain often appears a long way from the tissue that is causing it.

Fascia is also rich in sensory nerve endings, so tight or stuck Fascia is felt as ache, stiffness and restriction. Releasing it changes how the whole line moves.

Myofascial release Bristol reviews

★★★★★
He explained with videos and proof exactly what was going on in my body. He told me all about fascia. I picked my right hip and thigh. Just after 20 minutes there was no pain and no stiffness.
Louise BowerFibromyalgia, diagnosed 2018
★★★★★
He spent time analysing my posture, looking for the sources of my problems, explaining to me how they are all linked, then gradually working on releasing the fascia in every single part of me.

I had physio, treatments, sports massage, and scans from professional sports clubs. Once I met James, it was literally the first session, there was such a release. As I moved, I could feel zero pulling, like the whole area just opened up.

How long is a myofascial release session?

Every session at Cavendish House lasts two hours, including assessment, treatment and reassessment.

How does myofascial release feel?

Gentle and slow. Most people feel a stretching or warm sensation as the tissue releases, and pressure is always agreed with you.

Underwear or shorts and a vest top, as little or no oil is used and the hands need to contact the skin.

Is James a physiotherapist?

No. James Tyrell-Nestor is a Fascia specialist with 25 years of experience. He does not diagnose medical conditions.
